For the first time in a while, a record drop blog post! I’m hopeful now that I have my laptop back in a reasonable state, these will be more frequent. That being said, life is chaotic and unpredictable, so we’ll see if that happens. But that’s not what this post is about…

Review/Comments:
6.75/10
Context: I’m probably what some would consider a relatively “new” PUP fan. I’ve been listening to them for about 4–5 years, and I really like their last album, “The Unravelling of PUPTHEBAND”. I’ve gone back and listened to everything, but the last album is where I started to lived through releases as a fan.
This review is likely going to come across as “this album isn’t great” but that’s not it at all. The way I rate things are on a scale of 0 to 10. 0 means that I’m offended I had to listen to a single second of the album, 10 is perfection and 5 is right in the middle - an average album. This album is above average, but it’s far from perfect.
This was a rare experience for me. One where a band dropped 3–4 tracks early and they were, in my opinion, the best songs on the album. I find that normally there’s at least 1 song that I find on the full album release that ends up being the song for me. Not on this one - not a bad surprise, just a surprise with the smallest element of disappointment.
The highlights for me were Hallways, Get Dumber, Concrete and Paranoid. Hunger For Death is also gaining some traction. That said, I don’t know if any of them stand the test of time. “DVP” is from 2016 and still gets consistent play time on my playlists. Do any of these songs have that fire? I don’t think they do.
In summary: a good listen that isn’t an overly memorable experience. A good album that didn’t hit like I expected, and that’s my fault for where I set the bar in terms of hype. Interested to revisit down the road and see what I think.
