Another month, another card show!
I’ve made posts before about card show visits before, so I’m going to keep that rolling. It’s rare that I’d come out of one empty-handed - even if there’s nothing amazing to show off, there’s always something. They happen on the last Saturday of every month. The shows typically run at a local mall now, vendors set up from one end to the other with tables everywhere - anything from sports to Pokémon are all there, and some people also do some tables trying to move retro gaming items / figures. There’s always something that catches my eye, it’s just a matter of if I want to fork out any money/have I already burned the budget I allocated for myself.
When we do the show (typically me, my buddy and his dad) we usually hit the tables, chat with the regular folks/vendors we know, go to the collectables shop in the mall, then hit the local card shop after.
This trip? I didn’t buy much. A couple cards at tables, one gifted, and some supplies I needed between the collectables store / card shop.
Card buys:
This was a day to get some cards of a few of my “boys” I enjoy(ed) watching. I was a big Will Middlebrooks guy when he was coming up on the Red Sox, and the card was odd to me. Printing the card design on a piece of silk, then proceeding to place that piece of silk in another trading card? Why? It’s dumb, and I love it. Cal Raleigh has been awesome, and the holiday relic was kicking around at the local card shop, so I tossed it in when grabbing some dividers.
Gifted Card:
A few card shows ago, when we hit the hobby shop, my buddy ripped a hobby of Topps 2025 Series 1. Nothing too crazy in the box, but he pulled a sweet Cruz team logo parallel and a Ryan Howard autograph. If you know me and him, that’s the ultimate “us” box. Fast-forward a few months, he gave me the Howard when I picked him up. He said it was a “sorry for running a bit behind” after being 5 minutes or so late. Maybe, but my hunch is it may have been a “thank you” for my getting him Mobb Deep’s “The Infamous” on vinyl.
Card Supplies:
The dividers were needed to complete the organization vision with the BCW bin I bought a while back. The plan, short term, is to have one side of this all MLB bin as American League and the other side as National League. These will help be split the divisions.
The box is something to properly store the few graded cards I have. Before this, I just had them all jammed in an old blaster box and I hated it. This is much better.
