Record Drop: Wordburglar - Rapplicable Skills (Crowd Fund Pressing)

Growing up, I was pretty heavily into the local hip-hop scene, but outside a song here and there... not much stuck with me. The exception to that? Wordburglar. He was the perfect combination of top-notch beats, creative cuts, unique & fun lyrics with a simple but unique delivery. When getting into collecting vinyl, it was a must that I had all of my "all time" albums. I'm getting there, but I've found in some cases that albums were never pressed . A big one on that list was Wordburglar's album "Burglaritis". Being a follow of his social media, I did see that he was doing a crowd fund campaign to press up "Rapplicable Skills", an album that I didn't hold in as high regard as "Burglaritis" but one that was worth having. I pledged immediately. I think it was November when the crowd fund took place, then the record was received in May. Not the worst turn around, I've been in crowd funds that took much longer. Mail Day: COMC Order

It's been years... but I had the itch, so I put some funds on my COMC account and slowly started to pick up a few things. There was a big purchase I made that's in progress for grading, but that's a post for another day a couple of months down the road. Generally, my COMC orders are a good reflection of my tastes at any give period. The hot topics a few months ago? Marvel cards & "the king of kings" Colson Montgomery. I had a few other things sprinkled in too, but those 2 were the bulk of it. First, let's get into the Marvel stuff - a few numbered variants + some base cards that just looked cool. The base cards were also insanely cheap, so that helps! I also started investing in Colson Montgomery - grabbed a few "pre-rookie" cards, a 1st Bowman, and a Leaf autograph. I generally avoid Leaf for baseball, but the price was too good to pass up considering it was /50. Lastly, we have the assorted stuff that also made its way into the order. I grabbed...

Record Drop: The Prodigy - The Fat of The Land

After chatting with a friend at work who is also a fan of PUP, I had sent them my recent post about the "Who Will Look After The Dogs?" record. They'd mentioned it was a good little read, and to let them know if I post any more reviews. My response?  "Sure, but I don't know how many there will be. Most of what I pick up is old stuff... no one wants to read a review of something that came out decades ago." But the idea kind of stuck in my head. Does anyone care? Probably not, but it could be fun! So here we are... me cracking into a "Record Drop" post to review an album that came out in 1997. 28 years late, but better late than never! Upgrading My 2012 Macbook Pro: Hardware Replacements

I had finally ordered and received everything I needed to do a couple upgrades on the MacBook Pro that I had previously moved over to Linux , now it was just time to get in and do the work! As a quick recap, these were the planned upgrades: Switching the 500 GB HDD to a 1 TB SSD Swapping out the RAM to move from 4 GB to 16 GB Doing a refresh on the thermal paste A general clean of the inside to remove any dust/debris with some compressed air The general idea was, obviously, performance improvement. The switch from HDD to SSD would increase read & write speeds, the additional RAM would help when running more application/in high demand situations, and the thermal paste refresh/clean up would make for a better environment within the device itself. Before opening the computer itself, I prepped the new 1 TB SSD. To do this, I used a USB enclosure that would allow it to function like an external drive. Once I had that in place, I used an application called Clone...

Record Drop: PUP - Who Will Look After The Dogs? (/1000 Limited Pressing)

For the first time in a while, a record drop blog post! I’m hopeful now that I have my  laptop back in a reasonable state, these will be more frequent. That being said, life is chaotic and unpredictable, so we’ll see if that happens. But that’s not what this post is about… Artist: PUP Album: Who Will Look After The Dogs? Release Date:  May 2, 2025 Spotify Link:  https://open.spotify.com/album/5wTc5JHsIufcPGetKKnrlv?si=rkU5K9GkQ32B6vlz-fM5pA Track Listing: 1) No Hope 2) Olive Garden 3) Concrete 4) Get Dumber 5) Hunger For Death 6) Needed To Hear It 7) Paranoid 8) Falling Outta Love 9) Hallways 10) Cruel 11) Best Revenge 12) Shut Up Review/Comments: 6.75/10 Context: I’m probably what some would consider a relatively “new” PUP fan. I’ve been listening to them for about 4–5 years, and I  really  like their last album, “The Unravelling of PUPTHEBAND”. I’ve gone back and listened to everything, but the last album is where I started to lived through releases as a fan....

Upgrading My 2012 Maxbook Pro: I'm a Linux Guy Now?

About 2 years ago, I threw in the towel on a fight I was continuously losing. That fight? Me simply wanting my 2012 MacBook Pro to get through a few basic functions. I wasn't asking for a lot... let me type up some blog posts, file my taxes, track some collections. Hell, if I was feeling really spicy, let me edit an image or stream a wrestling show. No sir, not happening. What was once my baby had become a useless paper weight. I fired it in the back of a nightstand, where it collected dust for 2+ years. Then I got relocated to a new team at work. A small team, each of us with our own strengths + personalities. I won't get into every personality, but within the team I became friends with someone who was pretty tech-savvy. They were able to see how my brain worked with technology, and get a grasp on what I was capable of doing. At some point in conversation, Linux came up. I'd mentioned my familiarity with it, but that it was nothing I'd ever used or set up. The conversa...
