Note: this is a follow up to the first season, which I’ve broken down in a post here.
Season 2 is coming, but first we needed to take care of the offseason. Between some big retirements on the defense, and a pivot to building for the future the team definitely took a step back. I think, however, I can still make it competitive. The weapons are still there. If all else fails, Henry will still run the ball on 50% or more of my plays until he can’t run anymore!
So how did the offseason pan out!? Let’s look!
- Shedeur Sanders (QB)
- Miles Frazier (LOLB)
- Lance Wheatley (DT)
- Keith Stewart (LE)
- *** Hicks (LT) [the game is dumb and *’s out some names, I have no clue what this guys actual name is supposed to be haha]
- Silas Foster (WR)
- Kristian Gillespie (LOLB)
- Sammy Austen (C)
- Jeremy Oliver (RT)
Obviously I did not have the first pick, and I needed to give up a bit to get it.. the trade:
- Travis Kelce (TE)
- 2025 Round 1 Pick (#22)
- 2025 Round 3 Pick (#79)
- 2026 Round 2 Pick (TBD)
- 2027 Round 1 Pick (TBD)
- 2027 Round 2 Pick (TBD)
Absolutely an absurd amount to give up, “fleeced” as the kids would say, but 1) I really wanted to move on from Goff and have a QB with a potentially great dev trait & 2) I took Kelce in the initial draft assuming he’d retire after one season so I didn’t plan to have him in year 2 anyways.
Other trades made during offseason/preseason:
- 2025 Round 2 Pick (#38) & Jared Goff (QB) to Colts for Jaquan Brisker (SS)
- Armon Watts (DT), Sky Moore (WR), 2026 Round 6, 2027 Round 4, 2028 Round 2 & 2028 Round 5 for Zach Frazier (C)
- Thayer Munford (RT), Myjai Sanders (LE), Zay Jones (WR), 2027 Round 3, 2027 Round 6 & 2028 Round 4 for Amarius Mims (RT), 2026 Round 7 & 2027 Round 6
- Mitchell Trubisky (QB), 2027 Round 5, 2027 Round 6 (x2) for Jameis Winston (QB)
Offseason signings:
- Erick All Jr (TE)
- Mark Glowinski (RG)
- Thayer Munford (RT)
- Jacob Phillips (LOLB)
- Rodney Thomas II (FS)
- Younghoe Koo (K)
Overall there isn’t an area I’m *super* concerned about, but as I started in my intro it’s an obvious step back from what I was working with last season. I played one pre season game, and the offensive line felt iffy.. but that was basically my backups in play, and I followed that with trades to upgrade regardlessst .
New lineup going into 2025 season:
Will I do better that last season, which ended up with a record of 12-5? My goal is 13-4, but that would basically be 2 CPU losses since I’ll face off against 2 other users in the league this season. Those 2 users? The ones who played in the Super Bowl last season. I’m being realistic and chalking those up to losses already.
Let’s see where the 2025 season takes us!
